The Screen Game: Every NFL Offense in 2026

How well screen passes are working for all 32 teams, Weeks 1 to 7

By Sam Cassidy · Updated

Screens are supposed to be easy yards. Across the league this season, they mostly aren't. The average screen is worth -0.10 EPA, compared with +0.19 on every other pass. A handful of offenses have figured it out. Most haven't.

Only Baltimore and Denver get more out of screens than out of the rest of their passing game.
Pittsburgh calls the most screens in the league (38) and gets the least for it among high-volume teams: -0.36 EPA and 3 turnovers.
Kansas City leans on screens more than anyone by rate (16.1% of dropbacks) and they work: 56% success.

How we built this

  • Screens are plays charted as screen passes by FTN Data, matched to nflverse play-by-play for yards, EPA, success and down. Plays wiped out by penalty are excluded.
  • Dropbacks include all pass plays, sacks and scrambles. Screen rate is screens divided by dropbacks.
  • EPA is expected points added. Success means the play had positive EPA. Explosive means 15+ yards. Negative means lost yardage. Turnovers are interceptions plus fumbles lost on screens.
  • Covers 106 of 107 regular season games through Week 7. DAL at PHI in Week 7 was not yet charted, so both teams show 6 games.
  • Samples are small (11 to 38 screens per team). One long touchdown can swing a team's average, so read EPA next to success rate.
  • Data: FTN Data charting and nflverse play-by-play.
